Allergy Treatment
Portland Allergy and Asthma provides allergy treatment to alleviate the symptoms of any type of allergy utilizing cutting edge techniques and medicines, some of which were studied by our affiliated company, Portland Research. Dr. Fritz, a board-certified allergy and immunology physician, provides personalized care for each of his patients’ allergy treatment and asthma needs.
Immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots, provide lasting relief of all environmental allergies, including pollen, mold, dust mites, stinging insects, and pets. Allergy treatment shots are considered the standard of care because it is the only allergy treatment available that reduces the body’s sensitivity to all allergens rather than simply masking the symptoms. Immunotherapy works much like a vaccine and is customized for each patients’ allergy needs.
Portland Allergy and Asthma also provides allergy treatment in the form of food desensitization for people with allergies to peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, soy and wheat. In the past decade, Dr. Fritz has successfully desensitized more than ninety-five percent of his food allergic patients. He has conducted research studies for food allergy and was published in “The New England Journal of Medicine” for his research in peanut desensitization. Dr. Fritz has also published a book chapter on food allergy used worldwide to teach allergy physicians about food allergies.
Dr. Fritz also provides drug desensitization for drug allergies, such as aspirin, penicillin, and other antibiotics. This allergy treatment can be done in one to five days depending on the medication.
